As holiday shopping is expected to surge ahead of the New Year celebrations, the Competition Committee has issued an official notice to large retail chains in Uzbekistan. The Committee has emphasized the importance of not artificially inflating the prices of socially significant goods and maintaining market stability during the festive period.
It has been reported that official notifications have been sent to the retail networks of Korzinka, Makro, Havas, Baraka, Magnum, Assorti, B1, and Magnit.
In its statement, the Committee reminded supermarkets that the prices of essential food items and basic commodities, which are in high demand before the holidays, must remain under strict control. Additionally, retail chains are required to immediately notify the Committee of any price increases caused by changes in supplier prices, logistics costs, or other factors.
It was particularly highlighted that retail chains are also obligated to take preventive measures with their suppliers, issuing official warnings to avoid unjustified and artificial price increases.
According to the responsible body, such measures aim to keep prices stable for the public during the New Year period, prevent social tension, and ensure a healthy competitive environment in the market.
