The London-based international non-governmental organization Think Equal intends to implement social-emotional education programs in Uzbekistan. A meeting dedicated to this topic was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the United Kingdom with the organization’s founder and executive director, Leslee Udwin.
During the meeting, Leslee Udwin provided detailed information about the goals, methodology, and international outcomes of the Think Equal project. According to her, this educational initiative is designed for children aged 3 to 6 and aims to develop empathy, emotional literacy, communication skills, positive attitudes, and the ability to resolve problems peacefully in young children.
The Think Equal educational methodology consists of 30 weeks of lessons, with 30-minute sessions held three times a week. The lessons are conducted using specially illustrated books, games, and practical assignments tailored to the children's age. This educational process not only helps children adapt to a social environment but also strengthens their emotional well-being.
During the discussion, Leslee Udwin noted that the program is currently being implemented in India, Kenya, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Mexico, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and other countries, delivering effective results through international collaboration. The program also includes special training courses for teachers and helps improve their psychological literacy.
At the end of the meeting, a separate cooperation session between representatives of Think Equal and the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of Uzbekistan was proposed. This could become the first step toward introducing systematic social-emotional education programs in Uzbekistan.
Through such cooperation, a strong foundation will be laid for raising future generations as socially stable, emotionally mature, and mentally resilient individuals. The Think Equal initiative will enrich the preschool education sector in the country with international standards and give educators the opportunity to test innovative methodologies.
It is currently planned to pilot this program in Tashkent, followed by its gradual expansion throughout the republic. Experts emphasize that this educational approach will instill universal values in children from an early age, such as morality, patience, friendship, equality, and peace.
This initiative may help shape children’s moral and social development from an early age, promote social equity, and prevent issues like violence and injustice in society. It is expected to mark a new chapter in Uzbekistan’s education system. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
