Uzbekistan is leading in the Eurasian logistics market

Uzbekistan is rapidly developing in the warehouse property and logistics sector and is becoming an important participant in the Eurasian logistics market. According to data from the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), by 2025 the total area of warehouses in the country will reach 600 thousand square meters.

Since 2021, this indicator has continued stable growth, considering the construction pace. Together with Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan is forming the foundation of the region's new logistics system, the report says.

According to experts' estimates, by 2040 the demand for warehouse space may nearly double and exceed 120 million square meters. International trade volume is expected to rise from 1,278 million tons in 2023 to 1,420–1,809 million tons by 2040.

This will require the construction of new logistics centers and warehouses in Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and the eastern regions of Russia. The rapid development of e-commerce is also one of the key factors, and by 2040 its share in retail trade may reach 20–25 percent.

This will stimulate the development of fulfillment centers, urban warehouses, and the automation of the logistics system. According to EDB forecasts, by 2040 demand for warehouses will increase from 58 million square meters at the start of 2025 to 101–123 million square meters.

The main reasons for this growth are e-commerce, the retail sector, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, transit transportation, and logistics based on outsourcing.
