New Decision to Support Youth

New decision on supporting youth
In Uzbekistan, assistance will be provided to employ 16,000 young people included in the “Youth Notebook.” This is highlighted in a decision by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Within the framework of the “Reading” project, it is planned to increase the share of young people reading scientific, popular, and fiction books by 10 percent. Starting from February of next year, social assistance will be provided on a contractual basis to young people included in the registry of low-income families.

Recipients of this assistance must fulfill several requirements: attending school consistently, achieving good academic performance, and participating in the “Five Initiatives Olympiad.” If the recipient does not meet the specified requirements, the amount of assistance can be reduced by up to 30 percent or suspended for a period ranging from one month to a year or more.

Youth who fulfill the contractual terms for one year will be eligible to receive social assistance on a priority and concessional basis. Additionally, 1,000 of the most active young individuals will be awarded cash prizes.
