U-23 Asian Cup: Australia wins, Iraq draws with China...

The group stage matches of the U-23 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia are in full swing. In Group D of the continental championship, matches of the 1st round were also held, and the preliminary results further increased the intrigue in the group.
Although the Australian youth team, considered the group favorites, faced difficulties in the match against Thailand, they still managed to make their mark. At the beginning of the match, the Thai team opened the scoring with a quick goal, keeping their opponents alert. However, the Australian team quickly recovered: Alagić equalized from a penalty in the 29th minute, and a minute later, Mac Allister scored the second goal, formalizing the comeback.
Another important aspect of the match was that Thai player Jensen was sent off in the 12th minute. The red card significantly disrupted the Thai side's plans, shifting the balance of power in favor of Australia. Despite this, Thailand fought until the end, but it was not possible to change the score - 2:1.
In the second match of Group D, Iraq and China proved cautious and failed to score. As a result, the match ended 0:0. At first glance, it might seem like a "quiet" game, but such draws will undoubtedly further destabilize the group's fate in subsequent rounds.
Now on January 11, in the 2nd round:
- Australia will play against China,
- Iraq will compete with Thailand.
In short, in group D, the first stallion gave the signal that "no one will give easily." Now the team that made a mistake in the second round might end up in a difficult situation - that's the mood in the group for now: every point is gold.
