Doctor's advice on properly planning iftar and suhoor during Ramadan

During Ramadan, proper nutrition is very important not only for comfort but also for health. Since the body remains without water and food for a long time throughout the day, choices in iftar and suhoor directly affect weight, blood pressure, gastrointestinal function, and general condition.
Doctors recommend paying attention to water first: from iftar until suhoor, you should drink at least 6-8 glasses of water in portions. Carbonated and energy drinks, on the contrary, can exacerbate dehydration. It is also advisable to start iftar with a light meal: dates, warm water, or soup make the stomach "soft," while eating too many fatty and fried foods at once may cause gastritis and pain.
Missing suhoor often leads to weakness, dizziness, and decreased blood pressure throughout the day. Therefore, in the morning, nutritious but easily digestible products such as eggs, dairy products, vegetables, and grains are recommended. At the same time, spicy, salty, and excessively fatty foods can increase thirst and put an extra strain on the heart.
Coffee and tea should also be consumed in moderation, as excessive consumption can cause dehydration. It is advisable to plan physical activity 1-2 hours after iftar in the form of light exercises or before dawn. If someone has diabetes, heart, kidney, or stomach diseases, it is necessary to consult a doctor before fasting - taking risks in health is not a "reward."
