Annual income of singers in Uzbekistan disclosed

From the beginning of 2025 to May 1 of this year, 1,100 licensed singers in Uzbekistan submitted declarations regarding their income. This was reported by the Tax Committee.

Reported Income

During this period, artists recorded a total income of 6.478 billion soums in their annual reports. Of this, the taxable portion amounted to 5.1 billion soums, with a total income tax of 599.7 million soums identified.

Singers were divided into three rating categories based on the amount of revenue reported. The 47 artists in the first group declared a total income of 1.5 billion soums. Of this amount, 1.2 billion soums were taxable, resulting in 140.8 million soums in calculated taxes.

The 100 artists in the second category reported an income of 901.4 million soums. Of this, 699 million soums were subject to taxation, with 83.9 million soums in taxes assessed.

The 953 artists in the third group recorded an income of 4.1 billion soums. Of this amount, 3.2 billion soums were taxable, with a total of 375.2 million soums in taxes calculated.

Income Ranges

Out of the 1,100 declarations submitted, 375 indicated an annual income of up to 1 million soums, totaling 213.1 million soums. In this case, the average annual tax amount was 54.4 thousand soums.

Another 576 declarations recorded income of up to 10 million soums, with the total sum reaching 2.55 billion soums. The average annual tax amounted to 420.7 thousand soums.

In 102 declarations, artists reported an annual income of up to 20 million soums (a total of 1.4 billion soums). Here, the average tax was 1.3 million soums.

28 artists reported their income as up to 40 million soums. The total revenue in this category amounted to 860.6 million soums, with an average tax of 2.7 million soums.

12 declarations recorded an annual income of up to 60 million soums, with a total revenue of 655 million soums. In this case, the average tax was around 5 million soums.

Additionally, 7 artists reported an annual income of up to 152 million soums. They received a total income of 782 million soums, with an average tax payment of 10.7 million soums.

It is reported that singers who submitted declarations are required to pay taxes by June 1, 2026.

Previously, it was announced that a new procedure for taxing individuals engaged in concert and entertainment activities is planned to be introduced in the country starting September 1, 2026. The Ministry of Justice has submitted a draft presidential decree on this matter for public discussion.

This initiative has sparked various opinions on social media. Some artists have opposed additional taxes, stating that they already pay for licenses, while others have expressed readiness to comply with the requirement. Furthermore, Minister of Culture Ozodbek Nazarbekov expressed his stance on the expected changes, stating that "one should be ashamed to suggest not paying taxes."
