On New Year’s Eve, an explosion occurred in one of the bars at the Crans-Montana ski resort in Switzerland’s Valais canton, followed by a major fire. According to local media, nearly 40 people were killed and about 100 were injured. Kursiv.uz reports.reports.

Most of the injured sustained severe burns, and some are in critical condition. Medical facilities in the area are operating at full capacity. Medical helicopters have been deployed to transport victims to hospitals, and air traffic over the resort has been temporarily restricted.

It is reported that a New Year concert was taking place at the Le Constellation club at the time of the incident, and the venue can accommodate several hundred visitors. Preliminary information suggests the fire may have been caused by pyrotechnics used during the concert. Law enforcement said a terrorist attack is not being considered at this stage.

Crans-Montana is a well-known Alpine resort in southwestern Switzerland, famous for its ski slopes, hiking trails, and international sporting events.
