Arteta reveals Arsenal’s transfer targets

Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League table and are confidently pushing for a long-awaited title. That’s why the club’s main focus has now shifted to the January transfer window: Mikel Arteta plans to make the squad “deeper” and more competitive.

According to Caught Offside, the manager has already drawn up a January short-list featuring several interesting names. Arsenal are especially keen to take a clear step in defence.

One option at left-back is AC Milan player Davide Bartesaghi. He is seen as a “ready-made solution” to strengthen the position and increase competition. That’s exactly what Arteta needs: the season is long and the pace is high—without two reliable options in every role, the title race becomes extremely tough.

At centre-back, another promising name has been mentioned—Atalanta’s young defender Onest Aanor. His rapid development is said to be attracting attention from many European clubs, but it’s noted that Arsenal have not yet made official contact. In other words, it’s still just a scouting and assessment phase.

Rennes player Jeremi Jake is also on the shortlist. Sources say there have already been informal talks regarding him. So this could be an area where things are “heating up.”

In midfield, Arsenal continue to explore options that would add extra energy, dynamism and rotation to the squad. Within that list, Ayoub Bouaddi is being cited as one of Arteta’s most interesting targets.

In short, Arsenal are fighting for the title, and Arteta knows well that going through this race without depth is risky. Now there’s only one question: which of these names will become reality in January?
