Flight attendant Sandra Jenni Kwon, who regularly shares her professional experience and useful advice on social media, has offered her recommendations on the most comfortable and most uncomfortable seats in economy class. In her view, certain aspects that many passengers overlook before a flight can later cause serious inconvenience.

Which seats should you avoid on an airplane?

According to the flight attendant, seats located right in the middle of a row are among the most uncomfortable options. A passenger sitting there can neither lean comfortably toward the window nor get to the aisle without disturbing the people next to them. For this reason, such seats can be particularly uncomfortable on long flights.

In addition, the seats in the last row of each cabin section are also not considered a good choice. On most airplanes, the seatbacks in this row either do not recline at all or have very limited movement. As a result, passengers may feel more tired, especially on flights lasting several hours.

Another type of seat that is not recommended is located next to emergency exit doors. Although there is more space to stretch your legs in these seats, safety regulations prohibit storing bags, backpacks or other personal belongings under the seat. The expert explains that airlines generally try to fill the front rows first in order to distribute the aircraft's weight evenly. As a result, there is a greater chance that the seat next to you will remain empty in the rear section. If that happens, the flight will be much more spacious and comfortable.

What should you know about seats near the restroom?

The flight attendant also highlights another important factor. In her opinion, it is better to avoid seats located near the restroom. Constant passenger traffic, queues and, in some cases, unpleasant smells in this area can negatively affect the overall flight experience. Therefore, she recommends choosing seats at least five rows away from the restroom.

What is the best choice in economy class?

Sandra Jenni Kwon says that she personally never chooses a window seat. If she needs to go to the restroom during the flight, she has to ask the passengers seated next to her to stand up. This is not always convenient.

At the same time, seats at the front of the airplane have another important advantage. Meal service usually begins there. If the menu offers several meal options, passengers seated in the front rows are more likely to be able to choose the dish they want.

Taking all factors into account, the flight attendant recommends aisle seats in the rear section of the airplane as the best choice in economy class. Depending on the aircraft cabin layout, seats such as 49 C, 49 D, 49 F or 49 G are considered among the most suitable options. According to the expert, there is a high chance that the seat next to you will remain empty, access to the aisle is easy, and the overall flight experience is much more comfortable.
