Newcastle Chooses Felix Nmecha to Replace Bruno Guimarães

As the summer transfer window approaches, major changes and intriguing rumors are gathering pace in European football. According to Goal.com reports.

Newcastle United have reportedly begun exploring ways to strengthen their squad and identified Germany international Felix Nmecha as their top priority for central midfield. According to L’Équipe, the English club’s hierarchy considers the 25-year-old the best fit for their style of play. Porto midfielder Victor Froholdt is also on the shortlist, but the Borussia Dortmund player remains Newcastle’s main priority.

A Major Transfer Chain and Financial Opportunities

This activity is directly linked to the expected transfer of captain Bruno Guimarães. The Brazilian fan favorite is close to continuing his career at another Premier League giant, Arsenal. Reports suggest the Gunners are prepared to spend around €90 million on the star midfielder.

The huge financial windfall offered by Arsenal would give Newcastle’s hierarchy a major opportunity to reshape their midfield ahead of the new season. Newcastle previously lost Sandro Tonali to Tottenham, meaning the gaps in the squad must be filled quickly.

Borussia Dortmund’s Demands

However, Newcastle will have to overcome significant financial obstacles to achieve their goal. Borussia Dortmund have no intention of letting their key player leave cheaply. The German giants are demanding at least €120 million for the midfielder and refuse even to discuss offers below that figure.

Felix Nmecha’s current contract with Dortmund reportedly runs until June 2030, giving the German club an advantage in negotiations. Last season, he made 29 Bundesliga appearances and scored two goals. He has also gained international experience with the Germany national team.
