The Difference on Korzinka Receipts: What Measures Is Zafar Hoshimov Taking?

Reports showing discrepancies between the shelf prices of certain products at Korzinka stores and the amounts on checkout receipts have been widely discussed on social media. Shoppers viewed this not as a simple technical error, but as a serious issue affecting trust and transparency.
Network founder Zafar Hoshimov commented on the situation, stating that each complaint is being investigated individually. The company has decided to gradually introduce electronic price tags, strengthen checkout controls, and retrain employees.
How can a price discrepancy arise?
In a statement, Korzinka said that some cases may be related to the following reasons:
the shelf price tag not being updated on time;
an incorrect code being entered for a product sold by weight;
an accidental cashier error;
an inaccuracy in the product label or marking;
the price-change process and the updating of shelf information not being carried out simultaneously.
According to the company, more than 500 thousand purchases are made every day at the network’s stores. Although most processes are automated, the company acknowledged that the human factor cannot yet be completely ruled out. At the same time, it stressed that even a small number of errors is unacceptable.
The important point is that the large volume of purchases cannot justify the problem. For a shopper, even one incorrect amount on a receipt means personal financial loss and reduced trust in the store.
Hoshimov: No excuses will be sought for errors
Zafar Hoshimov said that it is necessary to contact the customer regarding every complaint, conduct an internal investigation, and provide a specific solution.
“Every complaint is being investigated; no excuses will be sought for errors.”
He emphasized that any incorrect calculation at the checkout, regardless of the amount, affects the company’s most important value — customer trust. Hoshimov said that trust is confirmed not only by statements, but by daily responsibility to every customer.
There are two sides to the issue. The first is correcting the identified error and returning any excess amount charged. The second is changing the system so that the same error does not recur at another store or with another customer.
What measures has the company begun taking?
The measures announced by Korzinka cover several areas.
Electronic price tags will be introduced
The network has decided to gradually replace paper price tags with electronic ones. The electronic system will make it possible to quickly update shelf information when a price changes in the central database.
Once this solution is fully implemented, there will be no need to wait for employees to replace every paper price tag manually. As a result, the time discrepancy between checkout and shelf prices may be significantly reduced. This is a conclusion based on how the technology works; the timeline for implementing the system has not yet been disclosed.
Control over receiving goods and placing them on shelves will be strengthened
The company is reviewing the processes of receiving products, checking their markings, and placing them in the sales area. An error may arise not only at the checkout, but also at the stage when a product is put on the shelf.
For example, when old and new batches of the same product arrive at different prices, an incorrect label may be placed, or a price tag for an expired promotion may remain on the shelf.
Checkout inspection mechanisms will be improved
Korzinka said it would strengthen the procedure for checking prices and product codes at checkout. In particular, the incorrect selection of a code for fruit and vegetables, confectionery, prepared foods, and other products sold by weight may result in an entirely different item appearing on the receipt.
Employees will receive additional training
The company has begun additional training and monitoring measures for employees. After each identified case, it is considered important not only to punish an individual cashier, but also to identify the work process that led to the error.
What does a customer receive if the price is higher at checkout?
The company also reminded customers of its existing “Price Guarantee” rule. Under this rule, if the price of a product at checkout is higher than the price displayed in the sales area and the discrepancy is confirmed, the customer will receive a refund of the excess amount and one additional unit of the same product free of charge. According to the company, this procedure applies at all stores in the network.
For example:
Situation | What should be done? |
|---|---|
20 thousand soums on the shelf, 25 thousand soums at checkout | Show the price tag and receipt to an employee |
The discrepancy is confirmed | The calculation must be corrected |
Under the company’s rules | One additional unit of the product is provided free of charge |
The issue was not resolved at the store | Contact the official support service |
It is important to check that the shelf price tag belongs to that exact product: its brand, weight, volume, type, and barcode must be identical.
How should customers check their receipts?
The company urged customers to check their receipts after payment, before leaving the store. If a discrepancy is found, they are advised to immediately contact the cashier, administrator, or official support service.
In practice, the following procedure is most effective:
Photograph the shelf price tag of the product that raised suspicion.
Check that the product name, volume, and barcode match.
Keep the checkout receipt.
Contact the store administrator.
If the issue is not resolved, report it through Korzinka’s official Telegram bot or support number.
Korzinka’s official Telegram channel lists a special bot for contact and the number 78 140 14 14.
The receipt is important evidence. According to information on the government portal, selling goods without a cash or sales receipt is not permitted; the receipt must show the product price, payment date, and cash register number.
What rights does the consumer have?
In Uzbekistan, consumers have the right to receive reliable and complete information about a product, choose quality products, and contact authorized bodies when their rights are violated.
The Competition Committee lists unjustified price increases, trading without issuing a receipt, and incorrect calculation of a product’s quantity or weight among possible violations of trade rules. Such violations may result in liability established by law.
If the store administration does not resolve the complaint, the customer may file a complaint through the Competition Development and Consumer Protection Committee’s short number 1159 or its online appeals service.
Will electronic price tags completely eliminate the problem?
Electronic price tags may be an important technological solution, but they alone will not automatically eliminate all errors.
For the system to work effectively:
the checkout database and shelf displays must be updated simultaneously;
each product code must be linked correctly;
a backup mechanism must operate when the internet or internal network is disconnected;
the start and end of promotions must be monitored automatically;
employees must receive prompt notification about errors
will be necessary.
Thus, technology reduces the human factor, but does not completely replace control and responsibility.
The main test is results, not promises
Zafar Hoshimov’s open response showed that the company is not denying the problem. Electronic price tags, strengthened checkout controls, additional employee training, and the investigation of every complaint are concrete steps aimed at improving the situation.
However, for shoppers, the main criterion is not the statement itself. Whether discrepancies on receipts decrease in the coming months, how quickly complaints are resolved, and whether the “Price Guarantee” rule works uniformly at all branches — trust will be restored through these results.
For a large retail chain, an error of several thousand soums may seem minor. For the customer, however, the issue is not the amount of money, but the confidence that the price seen on the shelf will remain unchanged at checkout.
