Bending Spoons to Acquire Airtable for $1.28 Billion

Italian technology company Bending Spoons has completed its first major acquisition since going public last month. According to ixbt.com, the company has agreed to acquire popular database and spreadsheet startup Airtable for $1.28 billion in cash. Techcrunch.com reports .

Founded in 2013, Airtable has raised more than $1.4 billion through various investment rounds over the years. Although its valuation exceeded $11 billion during the 2021 venture capital boom, its shares were trading on the secondary market at a $4 billion valuation early this year. According to Bending Spoons, taking the company’s current net cash into account, the deal values it at approximately $2.25 billion.

Deal Details and Financial Performance

In a statement, Bending Spoons founder Luca Ferrari emphasized that Airtable is a pioneering brand that has transformed how teams organize data and manage critical workflows. According to him, the company’s annual recurring revenue reached nearly $480 million as of June 2026, growing by more than 20 percent year over year, and joining Bending Spoons will further accelerate innovation.

In January, Airtable introduced a new product line called Superagent, designed to help users build teams of AI agents to perform various tasks. At the time, CEO Howie Liu said Airtable served more than 500,000 organizations, including 80 percent of Fortune 100 companies.

Bending Spoons’ Strategy and Future Plans

Bending Spoons, which went public in July at an $18 billion valuation, typically pursues a strategy of acquiring companies that trade at a significant discount to their private valuations. In the acquired projects, the company cuts staff, simplifies products and turns them into businesses with sustainable revenue.

For reference, Bending Spoons has so far acquired several well-known technology brands, including platforms such as Evernote, WeTransfer, Eventbrite and Vimeo. This experience is expected to have a significant impact on Airtable’s future development direction and operational efficiency.
