The Terminology Commission under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan has reviewed proposals to replace a number of foreign words with Uzbek equivalents. According to the press service of the Academy, local alternatives were proposed for words such as "blockchain," "reels," "helicopter," "brand," "cryptocurrency," and others.
During the process, public suggestions, recommendations submitted to the Commission, as well as opinions of the sector experts and relevant agencies from the Academy, were studied. For each term, an Uzbek equivalent was selected, deemed by experts to more accurately reflect the original word’s meaning and deemed suitable for use in official documents, mass media, and everyday speech.
For example, the term "blockchain" has been proposed to be translated as "zanjirblok," "reels" as "qisqa video" or "qisqa lavha" (short clip), "helicopter" as "tikuchar," "brand" as "xosnom," and "cryptocurrency" as "kriptopul."
