Six Uzbekistanis sentenced to death in Dubai scandal case

The court announced its decision on the bloody scandal that occurred in April 2025 in the city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, involving citizens of Uzbekistan. According to information released by local media, at an open court hearing on January 22, six defendants were sentenced to death, and another person was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan officially confirmed this information and stated that an appeal against the verdict is planned. At the same time, the ministry noted that this process could take years. So, the matter has not yet reached its final point.

Recall that in April 2025, there were reports on social networks about a serious clash between two criminal groups consisting of Uzbeks on the territory of one of the gas stations in Dubai. During this conflict, one person died at the scene as a result of a stab wound, and another person fell into a coma in critical condition.

Shortly after, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported that a total of 15 citizens of Uzbekistan were detained on suspicion of involvement in this scandal. Later, it was reported that the person in a coma also died without regaining consciousness, and the number of victims reached two.

The details of the case were also published in the local press. According to him, the members of two groups, who had previously had a disagreement, accidentally collided at a gas station. Several people ran towards the person who got out of the red Mercedes and attacked him with a knife. His accomplice tried to escape, but was quickly apprehended and brutally beaten.

Rapidly arriving at the scene, Dubai police took full control of the area and confiscated the items left by the participants in the altercation. CCTV footage and witness testimony were crucial for reconstructing the chain of events and identifying suspects. As a result, the police detained the participants in the conflict, including the main suspects, in one of the hotels in the emirate.

In a statement, Dubai police emphasized that such incidents are very rare for the emirates, stating that Dubai will remain one of the safest cities in the world.

After these events, certain difficulties were observed in the entry of citizens of Uzbekistan into the UAE. In particular, at the beginning of June, there were reports that part of the Uzbek fans who went to watch the World Cup qualifying match were not allowed to enter the country due to additional checks at the airport.

This situation once again reminded us that illegal actions abroad can lead to serious consequences. In short, one quarrel should be a lesson for the whole community.
