Today, October 13, the world's attention was once again drawn to the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh. A Peace Summit aimed at ending the conflict in the Gaza Strip, which has been going on for more than a year, is taking place here. According to Agence France-Presse, citing diplomatic sources, an important document aimed at ending the conflict is expected to be signed within the framework of the event.
According to reports, the US, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey are participating as the main guarantors of the agreement and its implementation. The summit is planned to be attended by more than 20 heads of state. The event is co-chaired by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and US President Donald Trump.
According to sources, the main goal of the agreement is to restore the peace process in Gaza, release hostages, and significantly increase the volume of humanitarian aid. This is intended to mitigate the humanitarian crisis in the region and ensure long-term stability.
At the same time, the Israeli government also announced that it would begin the process of releasing hostages under the agreement with Hamas. Official spokesperson Shosh Bedrosyan stated that the remaining 20 hostages will be handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross. They are planned to be delivered in a special column - six or eight cars.
"Palestinian prisoners will be released after the hostages return to Israel," a representative of the Israeli government said, explaining the implementation procedure of the agreement.
Diplomats consider this document the greatest political and humanitarian achievement since the beginning of the Gaza conflict. If the agreement is fully implemented, this could be not only an important step towards peace in the region, but also a new stage in the political balance of the Middle East.
International experts also carefully and positively assess this initiative, noting that the practical results of the agreement will become known in the coming weeks.
