
North Korea launched about ten artillery rockets an hour before US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's visit to the demilitarized zone. This was reported by the Yonhap agency, citing South Korean military officials.
According to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff, the rockets were launched around 16:00 on Monday towards the northern part of the Yellow Sea. Special analyses regarding these launches are currently being conducted.
This incident occurred one hour before US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth's visit to Camp Bonifas, located near the security area at the border between South and North Korea. There, Hegseth was supposed to meet with his South Korean counterpart, An Gyu-bak.
