Kyrgyzstan Imposes Ban on E-Cigarette Imports

Until when has Kyrgyzstan imposed a ban on the import of electronic cigarettes?

The Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers has adopted another decision aimed at protecting public health. According to the government decree, the import of electronic cigarettes, as well as cartridges designed for them, into the country has been temporarily banned for a period of six months.

It was reported that this restriction will come into effect 15 days after the official announcement of the decision. Through this temporary ban, the state aims to reduce nicotine addiction and prevent the growing popularity of electronic cigarettes, particularly among young people.

Officials emphasized that in recent years, electronic cigarettes have rapidly spread among the youth, posing serious health risks. Therefore, it is planned to protect public health by restricting the uncontrolled entry of these products.

It is worth noting that Kazakhstan fully banned the sale and advertisement of electronic cigarettes in June 2024. Similarly, Uzbekistan introduced restrictions on the distribution of these products starting in November of this year.

Thus, Central Asian countries are progressively introducing strict measures against nicotine products, particularly electronic cigarettes, with a strong focus on safeguarding public health, especially that of the younger generation.
