According to a decree signed by the President on November 3, 2025, starting from January 1, 2026, a 30-day visa-free regime will be introduced for US citizens entering Uzbekistan. Under the new regulations, United States citizens will be able to stay in the country for up to one month from the date of their entry without obtaining a visa.
The document emphasizes that this decision aims to further strengthen relations between Uzbekistan and the United States. Specifically, it seeks to create additional opportunities to expand trade and economic cooperation, cultural and humanitarian ties, and to foster the development of tourism. The visa-free regime is expected to enhance business and tourism interactions between the two nations.
The decree also makes amendments and additions to several previous regulatory documents. Notably, certain provisions concerning US citizens in a 2016 decree have been removed, and specific clauses of a 2018 decision have been declared obsolete. These changes are intended to align the legal framework with current requirements.
As a background, it is worth noting that since 2021, citizens of some countries, including individuals aged 55 and older, have been allowed to enter Uzbekistan visa-free for up to 30 days. Now, this privilege will be extended to US citizens without any age restrictions.
At the same time, the visa-free regime does not imply the cancellation of migration regulations. Foreign citizens are required to register their temporary residence or staying place following the established procedure. Typically, this process is carried out automatically through hotels.
In summary, the new decision serves to further reinforce Uzbekistan's policy of openness, its readiness for international cooperation, and its position as an attractive destination for tourists.
