
Libyan army chief Muhammad Ali Ahmad Al-Haddad and four others died in a plane crash after taking off from Ankara, Turkey. Libyan Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah called the incident “a great loss.”
Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said the plane took off from Ankara’s Esenboga Airport and radio contact was lost. The wreckage was found near Kesikkavak village in Haymana district. The plane requested an emergency landing, but no contact was made.
The cause of the crash is currently unknown. Turkish Justice Minister said an investigation is underway. According to the Libyan government, a three-day national mourning has been declared.
During his visit, Al-Haddad met with the Turkish Defence Minister and other military leaders. The crash occurred amid cooperation between Turkey and Libya. Investigation results will be announced later.
