There are casualties in Venezuela, the US is not planning further actions

Reports say Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was detained by US personnel and taken to the United States to face criminal prosecution. Washington said it is not planning additional operational actions on Venezuelan territory after the incident. This was reported by podrobno.uz.reports.

US Senator Mike Lee, citing Marco Rubio, said the operation’s main objective was specifically to detain Maduro. He noted that the reported military actions were aimed only at ensuring the safety of the personnel who carried out the arrest; there were no plans to expand the operation or continue a military phase.

The New York Times, citing Venezuelan officials, wrote that US strikes resulted in deaths and injuries. The number of casualties has not yet been confirmed.

The US administration stresses that Maduro must face trial. The deputy secretary of state said he would be held accountable through the justice system for his crimes.

It is also noted that earlier, following US actions, officials from a number of countries and international organizations expressed concern about the situation.
