Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said diplomatic contacts between the United States and Iran have already started and are continuing steadily. According to him, Turkey is closely overseeing the process, while the exchange of messages and coordination of the talks are being handled through Pakistan.
Fidan said Washington is conducting this diplomatic effort in close cooperation with Turkey. He added that Ankara remains in regular contact with both sides and is trying to maintain a clear and broad understanding of their positions, expectations and possible next steps.
The minister’s remarks highlight Turkey’s growing diplomatic role in the region at a time of continued tension and uncertainty. Ankara appears to be presenting itself as an active intermediary that can help keep communication channels open between two longtime rivals.
The development also underlines the importance of wider international coordination in sensitive regional issues. If the current contacts continue, Turkey and Pakistan could both play important supporting roles in reducing tensions and encouraging further dialogue between Washington and Tehran.
