Repeated Drone Strikes on a Shopping Center in Kryvyi Rih: 15 People Killed

On Friday, August 21, one of the major shopping centers in the Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih was hit by two drone strikes within half an hour. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and local authorities, the attacks caused heavy casualties: 15 people were killed and another 130 sustained injuries of varying severity.
Second strike delivered while rescuers were working
The first drone strike occurred at around 3:39 p.m., causing a major fire in the building. Eighteen minutes later, at 3:57 p.m., a second drone strike was carried out while emergency rescue and medical operations were underway at the scene. This repeated strike caused a sharp increase in the number of injured rescuers and civilians.

Large-scale attacks across the region
According to Oleksandr Hanja, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, the region’s four districts were hit nearly 60 times by drones, artillery and aerial bombs over the past 24 hours. The attacks seriously damaged multi-story residential buildings, private homes and vehicles. Authorities are continuing to assess the scale of the casualties and damage.
