“Spider-Man” film star Meri Rivera dies at 82

Meri Rivera, who played Ned Lids’ grandmother in the film "Spider-Man: No Way Home," has died at the age of 82. The actress passed away in Gonolulu on April 15, 2026.
According to her family, Meri Rivera fell into a coma after suffering a stroke and was placed on life support. After doctors said there was little chance of her condition improving, her relatives decided to withdraw the life-support treatment.
Meri Rivera was born in the Philippines and spent most of her life as a church missionary. Her loved ones persuaded her to take part in the film’s casting. Her brief but humorous scene in the film, released in 2021, remained memorable to audiences.
