
The government of Uzbekistan, in accordance with the resolution adopted on October 31, is reviewing the regulations for the import of meat and livestock products. The changes are aimed at strengthening the country's food security and making veterinary control more transparent.
Starting from 2026, the processing period for veterinary permits and certificates will be accelerated twofold. The process will be based on a risk analysis system to optimize control.
Enterprises that have not yet been included in the official foreign exporters registry will have the opportunity to obtain temporary import permits for up to one year. The list of such cases will be determined by the Republican Commission for Food Security.
Products will only be imported from countries recognized as free of animal diseases by the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH). Furthermore, the government will take steps to demonopolize the market: the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Committee for Competition will review the registry of foreign exporters and take measures to prevent them from gaining a dominant position over local importers.
A "hotline" will be launched under the Business Ombudsman’s office for rapid resolution of business issues. In addition, an interdepartmental working group will be established.
