It has been announced that the stations in five cities will be transferred to private management

In his annual address to the Oliy Majlis and the people, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the need for a large "reassembly" of the transport system. It was noted that at a time when interest in tourism is sharply increasing, logistics and passenger transportation chains do not meet modern requirements.

The head of state said that the task is not just to update air and railway capacity, but to at least double it. The goal is to accelerate interregional transportation and create a system that can easily accommodate the flow of tourists.

In the aviation sector, it is planned to expand the national fleet to 120 aircraft by 2026. However, the strategy is not limited to increasing the number of aircraft.

It was announced that a new financial support mechanism will be introduced for domestic flights: a state subsidy will be allocated in the prescribed amount for each ticket sold. Importantly, this fee is not tied to the ticket price - as a result, airlines are expected to reduce the final price and increase domestic tourism and interregional business activity.

The issue of personnel is also on the agenda: with the expansion of the park, the need for qualified specialists will increase. In this regard, it was noted that a university specializing in civil aviation will be created, where pilots of modern aircraft, engineers of technical services, and specialists in airport management will be trained.

In the railway sector, a five-year program has been approved, which will be launched from the beginning of 2026. Within the framework of the program, it is planned to lay 500 kilometers of new rails for high-speed routes to major cities across the country.

Special emphasis was placed on connecting the Tashkent region to a single transport agglomeration. Next year, the construction of a 110-kilometer route will begin, which will connect the capital with the Buka, Pskent, Bekabad, and Bayavut districts, as well as the rapidly developing administrative center of the region - Nurafshan.

It was also announced that a completely new line for high-speed trains on the Tashkent-Samarkand route will be built. Since the current infrastructure operates under the highest load on this corridor, the additional line should ease the flow and reduce travel time.

A plan to actively attract private capital to infrastructure management has also been announced. The President expressed his readiness to transfer the railway stations in Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, and Navoi to the management of private partners - it is expected that the public-private partnership will improve the quality of service and invest in modernization.

It is noted that Uzbekistan is one of the countries in the world with "double access to the sea": to access the ocean, it is necessary to cross the border of at least two countries. For this reason, efficient aviation and high-speed railway networks are considered strategically important for the country.
