Registration of residential address has been digitized

The procedure for registration of permanent and temporary residence in Uzbekistan is entering a new phase. According to the new regulation approved by the government, the process of registering citizens at an address will now be digitized, and this system will be managed by the migration units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The main goal of the new procedure is to simplify the registration process for the population, reduce excessive bureaucracy, and make the process transparent. While this issue previously caused many people trouble with time, queues, and paperwork, it is now expected that the work will be significantly eased through digital opportunities.

According to the regulation, a citizen must register within 10 working days after moving to a new residential address. This requirement is important for maintaining accurate records of citizens' current places of residence and for providing public services correctly.

One of the most important innovations is that the consent of the homeowner and the applicant can be confirmed remotely. This process will now be carried out via Face-ID or Mobile-ID. In other words, a person can express their consent digitally without having to go in person and deal with unnecessary signature and verification processes.

Application channels have also been expanded. Citizens can apply for registration at their place of permanent or temporary residence online, visit public service centers, or use "Smart Migration" points. This creates significant convenience, especially for busy people with limited time. Public services are gradually moving away from the "wait in line, test your nerves" mode, which is a good sign.

A separate procedure has been established for minors. Persons under 18 years of age are registered at the residential address of their parents or legal guardians. This ensures that the legal status and information regarding the place of residence of children are accurate.

There is also a restriction related to real estate ownership. Even if a citizen owns several properties, they can only be registered at one address. This norm is aimed at clarifying registration data and preventing cases of artificial registration in multiple locations.

The resolution also sets special restrictions for certain regions. In particular, the movement and residence procedures in border zones, closed military towns, and emergency zones are carried out based on specific requirements. This is related to security and special regime requirements.

Overall, the new regulation is an important step towards modernizing the migration and registration system. Face-ID, Mobile-ID, and online application options save time for citizens and allow state bodies to maintain data quickly and accurately.

Now the main issue is how conveniently the system will work in practice. If digital services are established in a stable and understandable way, the registration process will become much easier for citizens. In short, the migration system is also stepping into the digital age — as long as the internet doesn't "freeze".
