Illegal trade of medical supplies uncovered in Tashkent

Further operational measures against the illegal circulation of medical supplies were carried out in Tashkent. Employees of the Department under the Prosecutor General's Office conducted a series of practical actions to identify cases of selling medical products outside of pharmacy chains.
It is reported that during the raids, the activities of individuals attempting to illegally sell a large quantity of medical supplies were halted. Specifically, cases involving the sale of over 62,000 medical gloves, 1,000 meters of tourniquets, inhalation masks, and physiotherapeutic needles were identified. The total value of these transactions is estimated at 26,100 US dollars.
Additionally, a separate case was uncovered in the Yashnabad district. A group of individuals was apprehended while attempting to sell 62 "Almac-01" devices, air extractors, and medical bags for 158.5 million soums. Such incidents once again demonstrate that uncontrolled circulation of medical products can pose a serious risk to public health.
Experts emphasize that medical supplies must be sold only in accordance with established procedures, based on appropriate permits and quality control. Because such products are directly related to human health, if their origin, storage conditions, and quality guarantees are unknown, they are likely to cause harm instead of benefit.
Criminal cases have been initiated regarding all identified incidents under Article 186-3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This article covers offenses related to the sale of medical supplies outside of pharmacies, as well as the circulation of counterfeit or non-compliant products.
Investigation activities regarding these cases are currently ongoing. Responsible agencies are conducting inquiries to identify the illegal supply chain, the origin of the products, and other individuals involved in these activities.
In short, the operational measures carried out in Tashkent once again demonstrated how important it is to strictly adhere to legal requirements in the trade of medical supplies. When it comes to health, the "cheaper" or "faster" route can sometimes be very costly.
