Poaching of Red Data Book bird sparks public concern

A case involving the poaching of rare birds has been identified in the Surkhandarya Region. According to the regional Department of Ecology, a resident of the Jarkurgan District reported witnessing two rare birds being hunted and subsequently consumed during a trip to the Uchkul massif in the Termez District with acquaintances.
Photo and video materials submitted regarding the incident show several individuals posing with a deceased great white pelican. During the investigation, these individuals attempted to explain the situation as "just curiosity." However, the damage caused to nature, especially when it concerns creatures listed in the Red Data Book, cannot be justified by such excuses.
During the investigation conducted by the eco-police, it was determined that these individuals had been engaged in hunting and possessed hunting weapons. Subsequently, the weapons were confiscated by the internal affairs department for temporary storage.
According to expert estimates, the illegal removal of a rare bird listed in the Red Data Book from the wild has caused 206 million soums in damage to the wildlife. This figure is not just a simple fine, but an indication of the severe consequences of an irresponsible attitude toward nature.
Rare birds like the great white pelican play an important role in the balance of nature. Each of them is a part of the natural environment and a treasure that future generations should also be able to see. Therefore, hunting such creatures is considered not only a violation of the law but also a sign of disrespect toward nature.
All documents collected regarding the case have been sent to the prosecutor's office for legal assessment. It is now expected that the authorities will evaluate this case within the framework of the law and take appropriate measures against the guilty parties.
In short, this incident once again reminds us all of an important truth: nature is not a toy. A single act committed out of curiosity can harm the entire ecosystem. Protecting rare creatures is not just the job of ecologists, but a matter of conscience for every person.
