Vin Diesel Reveals Role Written for Cristiano Ronaldo in Fast & Furious

Cristiano Ronaldo has made headlines, not for his on-pitch performance or breaking another record, but for news from the film industry. Hollywood star Vin Diesel posted a photo with the Portuguese footballer, stating, “Everyone’s been asking me if he’s going to be in ‘Fast & Furious’...

I must say, he’s amazing. We’ve written a role for him,” Diesel announced.

It is already well-known that Ronaldo has transcended from being just a footballer to a global brand: a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, a five-time Champions League champion, with over 900 goals in official matches. However, the question of what comes next after reaching such heights is always a topic of discussion.

In April 2025, Ronaldo announced the launch of the film production company URMARV in collaboration with director and producer Matthew Vaughn, known for films like “Kick-Ass” and “Kingsman.”

A studio is in place, but the need for a major project with a ready platform remains. “Fast & Furious” offers billions in box office revenue, a global audience, and extensive advertising opportunities.

The franchise has previously featured celebrities in cameo appearances: various singers and media personalities have appeared on screen for a minute or two, creating that “Wow, is that really them?” effect for viewers. This method often works to boost both attention and revenue for the film.

However, Ronaldo is on a different level. With hundreds of millions of social media followers and global recognition from Lisbon to Riyadh, his mere appearance on screen could amplify media coverage, fuel discussions, and significantly influence box office returns in regions where football enjoys massive popularity. At the same time, the main question remains open: is this move just a marketing stunt or the beginning of a serious venture into cinema for Ronaldo?

For now, the situation seems more like a promotional approach. Ronaldo has so far not played a full-fledged role in such format feature films: his experience includes documentaries and commercials, but he lacks substantial acting background.

However, “Fast & Furious” is not an art-house film—it prioritizes charisma, physical readiness, and a confident on-camera presence over complex psychological performances. In these areas, Ronaldo is seen as having sufficient potential.

Vin Diesel has earlier hinted that the 11th installment of the franchise will be the final one. Its premiere is scheduled for April 2027.

If the schedule remains unchanged, there is a possibility Ronaldo may appear on screen: it could be a cameo role, a few scenes, or a racing sequence. He might not take on a significant storyline burden, but even this could leave a mark in the history of the franchise.

Interestingly, after Diesel’s post went viral and gained wide media traction, the actor later edited it, removing specific hints about Ronaldo’s potential role.

This is a common tactic: saying enough to spark curiosity, but not committing to anything definitive. Predicting fan reactions is also not difficult.

One group may see this as brilliant marketing and await the film eagerly. Others might criticize the decision as an attempt to milk the franchise dry by involving a star unrelated to cinema.

Yet another group might recall that in 2009, a role supposedly written for Ronaldo in the short film “Los Bandoleros” (a prequel to “Fast & Furious 4”) never materialized on screen: why should this time be any different? Ronaldo has always aimed for “more” throughout his career: more goals, more trophies, more influence.

His current chapter in Saudi Arabia is no longer the peak of his career, as it was during his days at Real Madrid or Manchester United. He has even stated that the 2026 World Cup will likely be his last.

What path will he choose thereafter—coaching, business, or a new chapter in cinema? Ronaldo is building an empire for his post-football life.

If “Fast & Furious” is part of that plan, it may be more than just a cameo but a bold bid for a new direction. The question is how well Hollywood embraces this and how ready audiences are for such an endeavor.

For now, there’s nothing to do but wait. April 2027 isn’t too far away.

If Ronaldo does appear on screen, it could either be a striking final flourish for the franchise or a reminder that stardom does not always equate to acting prowess.
