
Former head coach of the Russian national football team, Anatoliy Byshovets, shared his thoughts on Matvey Safonov's success in the Intercontinental Cup final. The goalkeeper for France's PSG saved four penalty shots from Flamengo players during the shootout, helping his team secure another trophy.
According to Byshovets, Safonov was mentally prepared for the penalty shootout and demonstrated a strong intuitive ability to predict the direction of the shots. The expert noted that Safonov meticulously studied the approach styles of the penalty takers, leaving Flamengo players practically without chances.
Byshovets labeled Safonov as the best goalkeeper in Russia at the moment. This season, the Russian goalkeeper has appeared in four matches for PSG, conceding three goals.
