The Hamas movement is ready to transfer the management of the Gaza Strip to the Palestinian National Authority. This was reported by Sky News Arabia, citing a source.
It is reported that Hamas made the relevant decision during negotiations in Cairo under Egyptian pressure. A letter was sent to the leadership of the Palestine Liberation Organization about the relevant decision. Hamas also set its own conditions in this regard. In particular, all their civil servants should be included in the new administration and their pension payments should be guaranteed.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz previously said that the country would not allow the creation of a Palestinian state that "could jeopardize its existence." According to US special envoy Steve Witkoff, negotiations on a second phase of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners will continue this week. The second phase of the negotiations will include the release of all surviving Israeli prisoners.
Trump: "The US will run the Gaza Strip"
The US president has called the Gaza Strip a "demolition site". He has said that the enclave's population could be relocated to various countries, including Jordan and Egypt. He stressed that the United States would not finance this process, since the countries of the Middle East would be able to cover the costs. Washington, however, said that it would be responsible for the affairs of the region and could send its troops there if necessary.
In response to this proposal, Arab leaders sent a letter to the US Secretary of State, calling the expulsion of Palestinians unacceptable, calling it not only a violation of international law but also a threat to regional security. Jordan's King Abdullah II announced during a meeting with US President Donald Trump that he would evacuate 2,000 children from the Gaza Strip.
