Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi has reacted to rumors about defender Cristian Romero's potential move to Inter. According to Goal.com, despite the Argentine player becoming a prime transfer target for the Italian giants, the London club's boss emphasized that in his conversations with the player, they only discussed his return to training. In recent weeks, reports from Argentina claimed that the Premier League representative had accepted an offer of around £34 million for the player. However, the defender had recently signed a new four-year contract with Tottenham and was also named club captain.

Transfer rumors and the player's situation

In a conversation with the press, De Zerbi stated that Romero pays no attention to transfer market gossip and that their communication is focused entirely on training plans. He added that he had messaged the player regarding the time for his return to London.

Romero's absence from Tottenham's friendly match against Chelsea in Sydney further fueled speculation about his departure. However, the club management maintains that his late arrival to pre-season camp is due to the extended rest he was granted after the World Cup final.

On the other hand, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has not hidden that the club sees Romero as the prime candidate to strengthen their defensive line.
