Traffic patrol officer hit by drunk driver in Fergana dies

A traffic patrol inspector on duty in Uzbekistan District, Fergana Region, was killed in a road accident caused by a drunk driver.

The incident occurred at around 11:30 p.m. on July 31. According to preliminary information, the driver of a Spark car, who was intoxicated, disobeyed the lawful demand of traffic patrol inspector Sergeant Hayitbek Karimjonov to stop the vehicle.

The driver then continued moving and hit the inspector. The traffic patrol officer, who sustained severe injuries, was immediately taken to hospital.

Although doctors took all necessary measures to save his life, Hayitbek Karimjonov died in the intensive care unit.
