Neftchi held in Samarkand as league leaders drop points

In the 15th round of the Super League, title contenders Neftchi dropped valuable points in Samarkand. Visiting Dinamo, the Fergana side drew 0:0 in a match full of chances but lacking goals.

Both teams created dangerous situations in front of the opposition goal. However, inaccurate finishing and reliable goalkeeping meant the fans saw no goals.

Chances came, but the score remained unchanged

From the opening minutes, both teams played cautiously but actively. Dinamo showed no fear of the league leaders at home, while Neftchi tried to find a way through its possession and experienced attacking line.

For the Samarkand side, Anvarjon Xojimirzayev, Tigran Avanesyan and Xaris Xaydarevich tried to develop attacks. Neftchi's attacking line was led by Xurshid G‘iyosov, Jamshid Iskanderov and Zoran Marushich.

Nevertheless, both in the first half and after the break, the goals remained untouched.

Dinamo made three changes at once

The Samarkand club's coaching staff introduced three players simultaneously in the 62nd minute to change the course of the game.

Jahongirbek Abdusalomov, Rasul Yo‘ldoshev and Nurillo To‘xtasinov came on. The decision showed that the hosts wanted to add new strength and pace to their attack.

Neftchi also made a change at the start of the second half. Alisher Odilov replaced Nurmuhammad Abdug‘aniyev. In the 63rd minute, Juraniy Fransisko Ferreyra came on for Vladimir Yovovich.

Although both teams used their substitutes, the changes could not alter the zeros on the scoreboard.

The lead was preserved, but two points were dropped

After the goalless draw, Neftchi moved to 36 points and retained top spot in the Super League standings.

However, a win in Samarkand would have allowed the Fergana side to pull away from its pursuers. From that perspective, the draw can be viewed not only as one point earned by Neftchi, but also as two points dropped.

Dinamo, meanwhile, earned a point against a strong opponent to move to 21 points. The Samarkand club sits ninth after 15 rounds.

Defenders came out on top against the forwards

Although there were no goals, that does not mean the match was boring. Both sides had chances to open the scoring, but the defensive lines made no mistakes in decisive moments.

Edem Nemanov, who guarded Dinamo's goal, and Neftchi goalkeeper Botirali Ergashev helped their teams keep clean sheets.

In particular, Dinamo showed that, after taking a point from the league leaders, it is a difficult opponent for any team at home. Neftchi, meanwhile, struggled to turn its dominance into goals.

Every point matters in the title race

As the second half of the season approaches, every match becomes increasingly important for Neftchi. Although the leaders retained top spot, the draw in Samarkand could allow their rivals to close the gap.

Dinamo strengthened its position in the standings with a point against a strong opponent. If the Samarkand side makes more efficient use of its attacking chances in the coming rounds, it could move closer to the top positions.
