In the center of Europe's political problems, there is once again an important issue: the German government has officially stated that it does not intend to recognize the state of Palestine in the near future. According to government representative Stefan Cornelius, despite France's decision, Berlin does not currently consider this step to be an important political solution, officials said.
Cornelius emphasized that for the German government, Israel’s security is the highest priority. For this reason, Berlin sees the recognition of Palestine as "one of the last stages on the way to implementing the two-state solution." Only direct negotiations based on two states, in their view, can bring "lasting peace and security for Israelis and Palestinians."
According to the government representative, the most important direction for Germany now is a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the release of hostages held by HAMAS fighters, the disarmament of the movement, and providing aid to the civilian population of Gaza. Therefore, Germany expects real results on the most pressing issues in this direction.
Conclusion: The German government does not plan to recognize Palestine in the near future. Berlin’s main priority is to ensure stability and security in the region and to end wars and crises. Europe and the international community are watching Germany’s position closely.
