Fight Against Corruption in Kyrgyzstan: Over 20,000 Students Expelled from Universities

The fight against corruption in higher education institutions in Kyrgyzstan has led to a review of several very important cases. As a result of inspections carried out by the special services, more than 20,000 students, including foreigners, were expelled from higher educational institutions.

The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan conducted systematic measures to identify violations in the higher education system. As a result of these measures, systematic violations were identified, and over 20,000 students were expelled from universities across the country. Of these, 13,295 students were officially expelled from their studies.

According to the special services, foreign students who studied at universities were primarily enrolled in medical and other educational institutions in Osh and Bishkek. Among them were students from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and other countries.

Additionally, as a result of the inspections, cases were discovered where students who had not participated in the educational process but were included in the student lists were identified. Based on these facts, a criminal case was initiated under the article "Falsification of official documents" of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan. Investigations are underway to identify the individuals involved in violations at educational institutions, including professors and administrative staff.
