Google and Epic Games reached an agreement
Google and game developer Epic Games have reached an agreement regarding commissions for developers on the Android platform. This decision must be approved by the court.

Google is ready to reduce the standard commission to as low as 20% or 9%, depending on the type of transaction. However, the updated fees do not include the additional 5% commission for using the company's internal payment system.

“If this is approved, it will conclude our legal proceedings,” said Samir Samat, President of Android at Google. The tech giant will also make it easier to install third-party stores on smartphones running the Android system.

These initiatives will be applied not only in the US but also in other countries. At the same time, Epic Games is not opposed to Google requiring the use of its own payment system, but emphasizes that there should be other payment options in apps and that it should be possible to offer lower prices through them.

It is worth recalling that Epic Games filed a lawsuit against Google in 2020. The game developer accused Google of anti-competitive monopoly practices on the Android platform and expressed dissatisfaction with its commission policy.
