Uzbekistan has opened an air corridor for exporting Afghanistan's fresh fruits and vegetables, Atlas Press reports. This corridor was established based on an agreement between officials of the Surkhandarya region and the Balkh province.
The new route provides Afghan exporters with the opportunity to deliver their products to major international markets such as Russia, China, and India. Uzbek officials have stated that they are ready to assist entrepreneurs in transporting their cargo.
It is noted that the closure of border crossing points on the border with Pakistan, especially at the peak of the export season, has caused serious damage to Afghanistan's economy.
