Famine rages in Afghanistan: 17 million people are starving

The UN World Food Programme warned about the worsening food shortage in Afghanistan. According to the organization, under current conditions, the ability to provide adequate assistance to millions of people is limited.

It is noted that after the Taliban movement regained power in the country, international financial and humanitarian aid to Afghanistan has sharply decreased. In addition, earthquakes and other natural disasters have exacerbated the existing crisis.

According to UN estimates, at least $460 million is needed to provide food for the 6 million most vulnerable Afghans. Currently, 17 million people across the country are suffering from hunger. This figure increased by almost 3 million people compared to last year.

The situation among children is particularly alarming. According to the data, 3.7 million Afghan children are undernourished, of which 1 million are living in a state of severe hunger. Experts warn that failure to receive the necessary assistance can lead to long-term health problems and death.
