Houthis launched a rocket at Israel

A missile was fired from Yemen toward Israel on Saturday, March 28, marking the first such attack since the start of the current war involving Iran, the United States and Israel, according to the Israeli military. The Israel Defense Forces said air defense systems were activated and the projectile was successfully intercepted. No casualties or damage were reported. Reports Dw.com.
The attack was later claimed by Yemen’s Houthi movement, which is backed by Iran. Houthi-linked broadcaster Al-Masirah said ballistic missiles were launched at what it described as sensitive military targets in southern Israel. The group also said it intends to continue its attacks.
The Houthis had earlier declared full support for Tehran, raising concerns that they could open a new front from Yemen. On March 27, Houthi spokesperson Yahya Sarea said the movement was ready to enter the war on Iran’s side.
The development adds to fears of a wider regional escalation. The Houthis have repeatedly targeted commercial shipping in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, two of the world’s most important trade routes. According to The Wall Street Journal, Saudi Arabia and the United States have been trying to prevent the Houthis from joining the conflict, warning that such a move could draw in more countries and threaten shipping routes linked to the Suez Canal.
