Although climate and nature-related problems continued in 2025, some positive results were recorded. Solar and wind energy surpassed coal to become the main source of power worldwide. China led this sector, expanding clean energy production and reducing CO2 emissions. Countries like the UK expanded wind energy and started major energy storage projects.
There were also achievements in ocean protection. 30% of international waters became specially protected areas. Nationally, for example, the Tainui Atea marine area in French Polynesia was protected, preserving biodiversity.
Forests and wildlife are also recovering. In Brazil, deforestation in the Amazon dropped to the lowest level in 11 years, and in India, the number of endangered tigers doubled.
Other achievements include the International Court supporting climate-related lawsuits and the return of salmon to the Klamath River in California after dam removal. These successes show that clean energy, nature protection, and indigenous rights can lead to positive results.
