President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed a special decree approving a new candidate for the post of ambassador to Uzbekistan.
According to him, Alexey Yerkhov will now represent Russia's interests in our country. He previously headed the Russian diplomatic mission in Turkey, where he established himself as an experienced diplomat.
For information, Oleg Malginov, who had served as ambassador since 2021, recently retired. Before his appointment to Uzbekistan, he headed the Department of Relations with Compatriots Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
Now Alexey Yerkhov's main task will be to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries and bring political, economic, and cultural relations to a new level. At a time when special attention is paid to the strategic partnership between Moscow and Tashkent, it is natural that the activities of the new ambassador will be closely monitored by the general public.
There are opinions that the appointment of a new Russian ambassador to Uzbekistan could open a new page in bilateral relations.
