MacPaw and Liquid AI Bring AI Technologies to Devices
Ukrainian software company MacPaw has formed a strategic partnership with startup Liquid AI to equip its products with locally processed AI models. The collaboration aims to create advanced technologies that work without an internet connection while protecting user privacy and security. TechCrunch.com reports on this.
According to ixbt.com and other technology publications, MacPaw is further developing its AI assistant, Eney, which was announced last year. Together with Liquid AI, the company is now developing an on-device inference system called Elix, as well as a local memory system. This will allow users to access AI assistants and agent features even in offline mode.
Local Models and Security as Priorities
According to Liquid AI CEO and co-founder Ramin Hasani, the company selects solutions tailored to a specific device architecture before training its models. This makes it possible to create the most efficient version of AI that runs directly on the device while ensuring data security.Although Apple is already providing its developers with local models, Liquid AI is placing particular emphasis on diverse capabilities and high performance. The companies are also building a specialized fine-tuning stack that adapts to user input and becomes more intelligent over time.
SetApp Platform and Future Plans
MacPaw plans to focus more on AI applications in its subscription-based SetApp app store, which has more than 150,000 paying users. To achieve this goal, the platform will provide the following capabilities:- Deploying a local processing architecture and making it available to other developers;
- Enabling developers to use on-device inference technology in their own applications;
- Serving as a single hub by also providing access to cloud models from companies such as Google.
