A 53-year-old teacher is suspected of raping a 13-year-old girl in Namangan

In the Yangiqo‘rg‘on district of Namangan region, a 53-year-old teacher is suspected of sexually abusing a 6th-grade student. This was reported by the Children’s Ombudsman.
According to the information, on March 28, a resident of the district, H.D., contacted the district police and reported that his daughter O.O., born in 2013, while studying in the 6th grade of the local school, was sexually assaulted by the male teacher T.Sh., born in 1973.
The Namangan police department reported that a criminal case was initiated under Article 119, Part 4 of the Criminal Code (satisfying sexual desire by force in an unnatural way), the suspect has been detained, and preventive detention has been applied. Investigative actions are ongoing.
The Children’s Ombudsman continues monitoring the criminal case against the child and ensuring the procedural rights of the victim child within the scope of its authority.
It is recalled that on March 3, the President signed a decree aimed at preventing violence and pressure against women and children. According to it, from November 1, 2026, punishment for crimes under Articles 118 and 119 of the Criminal Code committed against minors will be intensified.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Supreme Court, the National Social Protection Agency, and the Ministry of Justice were instructed to prepare a draft law implementing this decree within three months.
