The Uzbekistan - Kyrgyzstan match was interesting for many reasons. I wrote about one of the main intrigues before the match - the difference in the coaching views of Timur Kapadze and Srechko Katanets.
The starting lineup and scheme remained unchanged. There was only one change (and it was forced) compared to Katanets' time - Abdulla Abdullaev was put on the right wing central defender position instead of Husniddin Alikulov. The Pakhtakor player naturally adapted to the defensive three and after the Kyrgyz national team player was sent off, he began to move to the center of midfield from time to time.
For example, we see such moves in Manchester City when right wing defender Rico Lewis is positioned in the center of the field in positional attacks. In return, the Uzbek national team gained another player in the middle to put the ball into the game. This is a very interesting tactical discovery by Timur Kapadze. Unless, of course, Abdullaev decided to move up without the coach's instructions.
At the same time, despite the fact that there were no changes in the starting lineup and scheme, the Uzbek national team's game was different from the one during Katanets' time. The team had more possession of the ball, put more pressure on the opponent's goal. Someone might say that the Kyrgyz national team played with one less man, but this was happening before the dismissal. Although Datsiev's red card was the result of the pressure of the Uzbek national team.
Before the penalty, Kapadze's team created at least three dangerous situations, while at the same time almost did not let the Kyrgyz national team out of its own field. During Katanets' time, our national team played less "dominant" football anyway. It is also worth noting the effective pressing and counter-pressing of the Uzbek national team players. Our players also contributed to this component.
I saw comments on social media that our national team did not play well enough. I completely disagree with this. The Uzbek national team showed "total" football, dominated throughout the game. The relatively low pace of the game is the result of the actions of both teams. The Uzbek national team, perhaps, did not play at full strength, anticipating the match against Iran, while the Kyrgyz team, due to their capabilities, could not offer a higher pace. If it were not for the goalkeeper of the Kyrgyz national team Yerzhan Tokotaev, the score would have been decided at least 3:0 in favor of our team.
Timur Kapadze passed his first "test" as the head coach of the Uzbek national team with flying colors. However, the main "test" is ahead - the match against the Iranian national team. In my opinion, our national team played well enough in the match with Kyrgyzstan. I would give a "four" for such a match. The conversions were not enough for the "five". And this problem must be solved somehow, because in the game with the Iranians we will not have 10 chances. The level of resistance there will be one level higher, and if we want to win (and this is exactly the goal - a draw is very dangerous), then we will have to make the most of half-chances.
