Head coach Temur Kapadze, who led the Uzbekistan national team to the 2026 World Cup, has left his post. This was officially announced by the Football Association of Uzbekistan.
According to the UFA, Kapadze left the team voluntarily. Gratitude was expressed for his services and, wishing him success in his future activities, it was noted that the specialist has received other proposals.
Kapadze was appointed head coach of the national team on January 22, 2024. Under his leadership, the "White Wolves" played 8 matches over 256 days, recording 5 wins and 3 draws. Interestingly, the team didn't suffer a single defeat under him.
During this period, the Uzbekistan national team scored a total of 13 goals and conceded only 5. With an average of 2.25 points per game, the team performed well with 18 points.
During his tenure, Temur Kapadze fielded a total of 35 players. His tactical approach and trust in the team earned him great respect among the fans. Kapadze is also remembered for creating a unique working atmosphere in the team, maintaining close contact with the players, and trusting the youth.
This autumn, he was replaced by Italian coach Fabio Cannavaro, the 2006 World Cup champion, who holds a high profile in world football. Kapadze served as an assistant to Cannavaro for some time, and then officially chose his own path.
In turn, Kapadze's journey with the national team left a mark not only on the numbers but also on the hearts of fans. Under his leadership, the team began to find its game, discipline on the field and team spirit were strengthened.
