Endrick about Alonso: “I learned a lot in Madrid”

Currently on loan at Lyon, Real Madrid forward Endrick spoke about his short but meaningful time with the “royal club” and his experience working with Xabi Alonso. According to the young Brazilian striker, even though Alonso has since left the team, it was from him that Endrick gained the most valuable knowledge during his time in Madrid.
“I learned a lot from Xabi in Madrid. He was a top-level player and understands football incredibly well. Even though I was injured for a long time and couldn’t be with the team all the time, he still taught me so many things,” said Endrick.
The player also emphasized his current development, noting that he’s trying to learn from Paulo Fonseca’s methods and philosophy during training at Lyon. In his opinion, the key to growth in football is to “keep the mind open,” meaning to stay ready to absorb something new every day.
“Now I’m learning from Fonseca. If your mind is open and able to take everything in, you can learn something new from great coaches every single day — that’s exactly what I’m trying to do,” he said.
