New youth champions were determined in Termez

A three-day youth judo national cup in Termiz ended with Tashkent’s team leading the overall medal table after a packed program of intense contests across multiple weight categories. The tournament was held at the hall of the specialized school for martial arts and brought together 541 promising judokas from Karakalpakstan, all regions of Uzbekistan, and Tashkent City. The scale of participation and the competitive balance across divisions underlined the growing depth of youth judo in the country.
The final day drew particular attention as the heavyweight medalists were decided in both the men’s and women’s competitions. By the end of the event, Tashkent secured first place in the team standings with an impressive haul of four gold, seven silver, and five bronze medals. The capital’s athletes showed consistency across the tournament rather than relying on a few isolated victories, a factor that proved decisive in the overall race for first place.
Samarkand Region finished second in the team classification with three gold medals and one bronze, confirming the region’s ability to convert key opportunities into titles. Host team Surkhandarya Region completed the top three with two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals. For the hosts, the result was especially meaningful, as competing on home tatami often brings added pressure alongside the support of local fans. Their place among the top teams reflected both individual quality and a strong collective showing.
In the men’s under 100 kg division, Samarkand representative Jafar Jumayev claimed the title after a confident campaign. Tashkent judoka Javohir Khaytaliev finished second, while Musurmonkul Akhrorov and Bukhara’s Alisher Rasulov took bronze medals. In the over 100 kg category, Surkhandarya’s Iskandar Mamayusupov emerged as champion, giving the host region one of its most notable victories of the closing day. Kashkadarya’s Nursulton Nosirov placed second, and the bronze medals went to Andijan’s Samandar Yunusov and Tashkent’s Muhammadjon Khurramov.
The women’s heavyweight contests also produced several standout performances. In the under 78 kg category, Samarkand’s Elnora Salimova won gold, ahead of Tashkent representative Nafisa Asamatdinova, who took silver. The bronze medals were awarded to Shoira Aminova of Khorezm and Nodira Eshpulatova of Surkhandarya. In the over 78 kg division, Surkhandarya judoka Charos Abdullaeva captured the championship, while her regional teammate Dilbar Nazarova earned silver. Bronze medals in that category went to Tashkent’s Yulianna Shubladze and Khorezm representative Kamola Solieva.
Beyond the medal count, the event highlighted a broader trend in Uzbek sport: the strengthening of youth development structures in judo. With athletes arriving from every part of the country, the competition served not only as a test of current form but also as a platform to identify future national team prospects. Heavyweight divisions often attract special interest because they demand a combination of technique, tactical maturity, and physical control, and the final day in Termiz suggested that a new generation is beginning to meet those standards.
The tournament’s significance goes beyond a single set of results. Organizers and coaches view such national youth events as essential for widening the sport’s appeal, giving talented athletes match practice under pressure, and preparing them for larger challenges ahead. The latest edition in Termiz delivered exactly that: a competitive national stage, new champions in key categories, and further evidence that Uzbek youth judo continues to expand in both quality and reach.
