Bumble bets on new technologies despite declining user numbers

Dating app company Bumble has released its financial report. According to it, the number of paid subscribers decreased by 21.1 percent in the first quarter of 2026, reaching 3.2 million. Although the user base has shrunk, the company calls this a deliberate strategic shift. This is reported by Techcrunch.com reports .

Bumble's management decided to focus on quality rather than quantity. As a result, the average revenue per user increased by 9 percent, and net profit rose to 52.6 million dollars. Company founder Whitney Wolfe Herd assessed this process as an important step toward sanitizing the ecosystem.

The company links future growth to a new AI-based platform. Bumble is migrating its legacy technological infrastructure to a cloud-based and AI-powered system. This update will allow for more accurate recommendations of compatible candidates to users.

The biggest changes are expected in the fourth quarter of this year. Bumble plans to move away from the traditional "swipe" model and introduce a new interface that encourages users to meet in real life. Additionally, an AI assistant named "Bee" will help users find matches that align with their preferences.
